MERCERSBURG - Police have arrested a New York man for the armed robbery of tens of thousands of dollars in jewelry from a Mercersburg jewelry store nearly three years ago.

Mercersburg Police on Friday announced that Kevin Jade Combs of the Bronx has been charged in connection with the Nov. 19, 2015, robbery of Snider's Jewelry Store, 339 N. Main St. He is charged with one felony count each of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, theft and receiving stolen property, online court records show.

Combs is in Franklin County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail, according to online court records. A preliminary hearing is scheduled July 24.

More arrests are expected, police said.

Two armed men got off with more than $33,000 dollars in jewelry from Snider's.

Wearing dark jackets and clothing, masks and gloves, they entered the store around 10:21 a.m. the day of the robbery and announced the "holdup," Public Opinion reported at the time.

They pointed a gun while attempting to break open display cases, police said. The cases would not break, so they pushed the cases onto their sides and were able to open the cases and remove jewelry, police said.

The men then fled the store and got into a dark-blue Chevrolet Malibu being driven by a getaway driver, police said at the time.

Three employees and two customers were in the store at the time of the robbery.

Mercersburg Police Department said it thanks the multiple agencies that participated in the investigation, and specifically pointed to Franklin County District Attorney Matt Fogal and his office for making the arrest happen.
