Driver dies when car collides head-on with concrete truck

Justin Maywald, 27, of Wichita Falls died early Monday when his car crossed the center line on State Highway 36 in Coryell County and collided head-on with a loaded Freightliner concrete truck.

The accident happened at around 7:20 a.m. Monday just north of the Gatesville city limits.

Maywald was headed southeast on the highway when his 2014 Dodge Avenger veered into the path of the oncoming truck, Department of Public Safety Sgt. David Roberts said.

He died at the scene.

The driver of the truck, Bryan Hill, 54, of Harker Heights, was taken to Coryell Memorial Hospital for evaluation, Roberts said.
