I was a tad worried that a Christmas song from Wavves would get covered in psychedelic fuzz beyond the point of recognition. On the contrary I was pleasantly surprised by this lovely cover of the classic “Christmas Time Is Here” from A Charlie Brown Christmas, and that is saying a lot. Not only am I a shameless Christmas music apologist, but I am also a Minnesotan. (Peanuts creator Charles Schulz hails from Minnesota as well, and we hold him and all Charlie Brown-related content in high esteem). The cover is just “wavvey” enough, and Nathan Williams’ voice — despite its sunny California roots — actually fits pretty well with the snowy, foggy, cozy vibe of the Vince Guaraldi classic.
