The first time I ever really understood what the word "vote" meant wasn't in an elementary school history class. It was sitting on my living room floor watching MTV. Like many people of my generation (yes, the millennials one), the words "Rock the Vote" bring back memories of our favorite celebrities urging us to get involved, before we were really able to understand the issues.

But the power of Rock the Vote went beyond getting eligible voters to go to the polls. It got teens—or pre-teens in my case—to think voting was cool. After all, if Madonna was doing it, I should be too, right?

So it's with great excitement that Rock the Vote is once again kicking off efforts to get millennials, and really everyone, excited for the 2014 midterm elections with a new team in place, including president Ashley Spillane, chief of staff and general counsel Liz Howard, strategic partnerships director Dominic Lowell, digital director Alma Chapa, and spokesperson Audrey Gelman.

Their goals? To register over 1.5 million voters for the November midterm election using a newly launched mobile friendly website as well as grassroots outreach. And of course, it will all be done by engaging our favorite actors, musicians, and celebrities like Rock the Vote always has.

"We could not be more excited about kicking off our efforts to organize the largest youth voter registration and mobilization effort in the country in 2014," Spillane said. "With 12,000 Americans turning 18 each day, we cannot afford to have young people sit out the political process when so much is at stake for their future."

We can't wait to see the amazing impact we're sure this campaign will have—and of course, what fantastic talent will get behind it.
