One man is dead and a woman is still missing after a car drove into the Illinois River Saturday night. The incident led to dozens gathering at Havana’s riverfront on a somber Monday evening.

The family of Megan Worley, the missing woman, held a vigil in her and Aaron Anderson’s honor. Worley and Anderson worked together at the Illinois River Correctional Facility.

Many friends, family and loved ones were here at the riverfront remembering the two.

“It’s very devastating,” their colleague Mark Pirtle said. “To have something like that happen to two young people, it really hurts, and hurts the staff. It’s very tragic.”

There are still few details on what had happened. Officers confirmed they found Anderson’s car and body after 11:30 p.m. Saturday, and there is no word on what led to the car driving into the river, via boat ramp, at the end of West Main Street in Havana.

The Havana Police Department, Illinois State Police, Mason County Sheriff’s Office and Mason County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate, as well as working to find Worley.
