Ridley Scott is planning to make the film Moses.

The Prometheus director has revealed that a movie based on the biblical figure is in development.

"I probably shouldn't have let that slip out," he told Esquire. "I'm not supposed to say anything.

"It's definitely in the cards, though. What's interesting to me about Moses isn't the big stuff that everybody knows. It's things like his relationship with Ramesses [II, the pharaoh].

"I honestly wasn't paying attention in school when I was told the story of Moses. Some of the details of his life are extraordinary."

Scott's highly anticipated sci-fi movie Prometheus premiered last week.

He is also working on the Michael Fassbender-starring drama The Counselor and the biopic Gertrude Bell, in which Angelina Jolie is set to take the lead.
