Croatian expert martial artist and actor Silvio Simac is in Malta for a short visit, where he will be delivering two seminars for martial artists.

The 39-year-old is a 14-time British Taekwondo Champion and has appeared in films such as Transporter 3.

He is currently involved in an upcoming reality TV show based on mixed martial arts, called Warrior Island.

Sixteen warriors will be spending six weeks on an island in Hawaii. Simac will be one of their trainers.

Despite the fact that the warriors for season one have already been chosen, Simac is on the lookout for potential talent who could be possible contenders for the next season.

He also spoke about the great mental, spiritual and physical benefits which could be gleaned from practising martial arts, adding that he hoped to motivate and inspire people to channel their energy through sports.

Also present at this afternoon’s press conference were two of Simac’s good friends: Hollywood actor Matthew Marsden, who has starred in films such as Black Hawk Down and Rambo and Wolfgang Raach, who is currently acting as the stunt double of George Clooney in the film The Monuments Men.

The seminars will be held on Thursday at Tao Natural Health Centre, Bugibba, at 7pm, and on Friday at the Ying Yang Kickboxing Club, Fgura, at 7pm. The fee is €20.
