Town Honors Firefighters Who Delivered Baby On Roadside

Traffic stopped the mother from getting to the hospital. Luckily, these local heroes were there to help her.

WANTAGH-SEAFORD, NY - From the Town of Hempstead: Hempstead Town Supervisor Laura Gillen (3rd left) recognizes and presents official Town of Hempstead Citations at the Wantagh Fire Department to the quick responding Wantagh Fire Department Crew who delivered a baby boy born in the North Wantagh area along the side of the Southern State Parkway near the westbound entrance for the Wantagh State Parkway last month. The crew responded to a young couple rushing to get to the hospital, but were caught in traffic. Crew included Lieutenant Samantha Datre, Firefighter Sal Ferro, Firefighter Michael Cipolla and (Not pictured, but recognized) Captain Stephen Lincke and Lieutenant Erica Goetz .
