Bill O’Reilly: Tells MLK, III That Blacks Should Wear ‘Don’t Get Pregnant At 14’ T-Shirts [Video]

On a segment of The O’Reilly Factor Wednesday night, Bill O’Reilly spoke with Martin Luther King, III — Martin Luther King, Jr.’s eldest son. He appeared on the show to discuss the plight of African-Americans today and hot topic issues involving racism. Like his father who was a civil rights leader, King is a human rights activist.

In the featured segment, Raw Story reports that O’Reilly tells King what he feels blacks should be more focused on in order to overcome the setbacks in front of them.

The controversial O’Reilly took things to the next level when he took direct aim at T-shirts many have been wearing that read, “I can’t breathe,” which were the final words spoken by Eric Gardner as a NYPD cop fatally choked him on camera. A grand jury decided not to indict Officer Daniel Pantaleo.

“I don’t mind President Obama saying to LeBron James, ‘Look, I’m with you.’ And that’s what he did. But he also has to provide some leadership in the sense of saying just what you said. Just exactly what you said. You know what, we fight the injustice and we realize it’s there, but we love our country, we applaud the progress we’ve made, and here is a pathway to success. You know, don’t abandon your children. Don’t get pregnant at 14. Don’t allow your neighborhoods to deteriorate into free fire zones. That’s what the African-American community should have on their T-shirts.”

King responded by saying he believes “that’s just part of it.” He cites his father in a quote: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” The human rights activist explained to the political pundit that the nation is “focused” on just “one segment of the whole” when it comes to the African-American community.

“… So I think we should focus on the whole — so when we are addressing those issues [in the black community], we’re addressing other instances of police misconduct.”

As Jezebel reminds readers, Jon Stewart pointed out earlier this year to O’Reilly that many underfunded black neighborhoods in America have little to do with the people who live there.

The site also notes that Bill O’Reilly says blacks should wear “Don’t get pregnant at 14” T-shirts despite statistics across America showing teen pregnancy is down 51 percent since 1990.

A similar article on The Inquisitr touched on another subject Bill O’Reilly took up on racism when he said more whites than blacks are killed by police officers every year.
