Meghan Markle will inject “LA glam” to the royal dress code on her wedding day, according to the designer in the running to make her shoes.

Aruna Seth’s label was chosen by Pippa Middleton to wear at her sister Kate’s wedding to Prince William in 2011 and her footwear is also favoured by Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

Knightsbridge-based Ms Seth, 33, is said to have a big chance of being commissioned by Ms Markle for her Windsor Castle wedding to Prince Harry on May 19.

Royal experts say dress guidelines for women include knee-length skirts and buttoned-up jackets, hats and wearing tights or stockings. But Miss Seth told the Standard Ms Markle will bring “American cool” to the royal family’s traditional dress code.

“I think she will go for a contemporary and modern dress. It will stay within the royal dress code but it will definitely be different — it’s not going to be your Kate Middleton dress. I think she’ll go towards that whole LA-glam style. It won’t be lacy — it will be more clean straight lines.

It will be in keeping with the theme of her being part of the community and one of the people — so people will warm to her. She’s not too formal. I think they are trying to show she is more 2018, more comfortable and trendy. Although she will still have to have her shoulders covered in the chapel.”

Ms Seth said Ms Markle might opt for a nude or blush shoe to “express herself”. Her designs start at £200 and go up to £2,000. Custom-made bridal shoes would cost around £1,500 to £2,000.

Last January Ms Seth sent a member of staff to Washington with a pair of £645 green suede boots after a 2am phone call informing her that President Trump’s daughter Tiffany wanted her shoes for the inauguration the next day.

The designer is also being tipped to make Princess Eugenie’s shoes for her wedding to Jack Brooksbank, also at Windsor Castle, in October.

She made shoes for Kate Middleton, her sister and mother Carole before the 2011 royal wedding but only Pippa picked them on the day.

Miss Seth added: “I don’t know until the day who will wear my shoes. It could be a stylist or the palace themselves that gets in touch. Or it could be through friends. With Princess Beatrice and Eugenie — their mum loves my shoes so it’s like a family thing.”
