South Boston authorities investigating Friday evening shooting

Officers with the South Boston Police Department are investigating a shooting that occurred Friday evening involving two vehicles.

Police say at 7:24 p.m., a call came in to the Halifax E911 Center for shots fired in the Easley Street/Noblin Ave. area of South Boston. Officers arriving on scene found numerous cartridge casings in the street.

Witnesses told police that a sliver or tan SUV and a silver or tan car pulled up on Easley Street near Noblin Ave. facing each other and occupants in the vehicles exchanged gunfire.

Police say neither vehicle was found in the area when officers arrived and officers were unable to locate anyone in the area that was injured.

Further investigation determined that one person had been transported to the hospital. Police are unsure if this person is related to the shooting on Easley Street.
