BRICK — A Brick man pushing his disabled vehicle off Route 70 was struck by two cars and killed Thursday night, according to a report on Brick.Patch.com.

William J. Cassano, 40, was driving east on Route 70 near Burnt Tavern Road when his Toyota 4Runner got stuck in the center lane just before 8:45 p.m. As Cassano tried to move the SUV onto the shoulder he was hit by a 1990 Oldsmobile driven by William Cox, 23, of Freehold.

Cassano was launched 30 feet toward the center median, but the report said he got up and indicated to a passerby who had stopped that he was OK. However, moments later Cassano was hit by a 2009 Toyota Yaris being driven by Courtney J. Bannigan, 23, of Brick and got pinned between the two vehicles.

Neither Cox nor Banningan was injured. The passerby also wasn't hurt, according to Brick Patch.
