Amid a flurry of new concert announcements, the Mobile Saenger Theatre has announced that it is once again open for business following an extensive mold cleanup effort.
A mold problem was discovered in August and several concerts were rescheduled or relocated while the historic venue underwent an extensive decontamination effort. City officials said the mold was nontoxic but there was a chance it could present a danger to people allergic to penicillin. The city approved an emergency contract potentially worth more than $700,000, and the work was handled by ServiceMaster.
The venue posted an announcement Tuesday that “No one is more ready than we are to be back in action! We’ll prove it to you shortly … prepare yourselves for lots of announcements in your news feed this morning.”
Recent announcements include a 2020 performance by Darci Lynne Farmer, a young singer/ventriloquist who won “America’s Got Talent” in 2017, at age 12. The newest announcements include 2020 shows by The Indigo Girls and Buddy Guy.
