Sagaponack’s Jimmy Fallon has added “children’s book author” to his long list of accomplishments. Fallon read an excerpt of Your Baby’s First Word Will Be Dada for Water Mill’s Matt Lauer on Today. Fallon was inspired to write the book from his experience with his daughters Frances, 6 months, and Winnie, 2 years old. Hopefully mama Nancy Juvonen isn’t too jealous!
While visiting the Hamptons with friends last weekend, Leonardo DiCaprio reportedly rented a six-bedroom home in Wainscott for $5,000 a night. The actor also enjoyed a meal at Nick & Toni’s in East Hampton with Sports Illustrated “Rookie of the Year” model Kelly Rohrbach.
FOX 5 meteorologist Audrey Puente will serve as the host for the “Veinte” event on Saturday June 20, which will also feature her brother Tito Puente, Jr. and his 10-piece band. The event is the celebration for the 20th Anniversary of The Ellen Hermanson Foundation and Ellen’s Run. It will be held at photographer Steven Klein’s ranch in Bridgehampton.
Music sensations Jay-Z and Beyoncé visited the South Fork with daughter Blue Ivy last weekend. The superstar couple arrived via private helicopter.
Beyoncé’s equally hip sister Solange will perform a DJ Set at The Surf Lodge in Montauk this Saturday, June 13 at 7 p.m. as part of the Surf Lodge’s summer concert series.
After Uber, the popular car service company, was banned from East Hampton last week, many Hamptonite VIPs, including Sandra Ripert and Bravo’s Andy Cohen, took to social media to protest. Said Cohen on Twitter, “I am trying to be a responsible citizen. I don’t drink & drive. Plz don’t ban my designated driver in EHampton.”
Julie and Bill Macklowe will host VH1’s annual Save the Music “Hamptons Live” benefit at their Sagaponack estate this August. Multi-platinum artist Jason Derulo will headline the event. Said Derulo in a statement; “I’m honored for the opportunity to team with VH1 Save the Music Foundation this summer in support of a cause that’s so dear to me. Come out and join us in the Hamptons.”
Rob Hinerliter, East End native and Broadway producer of On the Town, An American in Paris, and You Can’t Take It With You, had a big surprise in store for the East End Arts Teeny Awards audience on Sunday when he couldn’t make the awards in person due to his three Tony Award nominations. As a past Teeny award nominee, he knew the impact his gesture would make on the nominees when he arranged for a special presentation by Tony Yazbeck and Dame Helen Mirren, who went on to win a Tony on Sunday for Best Actress in a Play. In the auditorium of Center Moriches High School, the crowd went wild as the surprise unfolded at the Teeny Awards Ceremony, which takes place on Tony Awards Sunday every year. Bridgehampton resident Joy Behar performed at HELP USA’s benefit show at the Gotham Comedy Club in New York City on June 1. HELP USA, a national homeless services organization, strives to provide safe, stable housing to all.
The Flaming Lips performed at The Surf Lodge in Montauk last Sunday to kick off the popular venue’s charity concert series. Proceeds from the event benefited the Montauk Playhouse.
Designer and author Jonathan Adler is designing the official T-shirt for the upcoming 36th Annual Shelter Island 10K Race. The sea-themed shirts will be given to runners and sold to raise money for the Shelter Island 10K Community Fund. The race, called one of the country’s most beautiful runs by Runner’s World magazine, takes place Saturday, June 20.
Congratulations to Noah Schwartz, executive chef at noah’s in Greenport, for earning the Snail of Approval from Slow Food East End. The Snail recognizes businesses that cook with mostly local and sustainably raised and grown ingredients. Noah’s joins The North Fork Table & Inn in Southold and Nick & Toni’s in East Hampton as restaurants having earned the Snail of Approval from Slow Food East End.
The Suffolk County Historical Society memorialized the life of Dean F. Failey, a recognized curator and raconteur, who passed away on May 19 at age 68, in a special email to the Society’s followers. Failey’s exhibition at the Historical Society, From Manor to Museum: Treasures of Sagtikos Manor, “was not only meticulously labeled and extremely informative, but it was also a visually engaging work of art in and of itself. Dean brought his unique style, impeccable taste, vast intelligence, and warm smiles to every project he undertook. Dean Failey will always be much loved, much respected, and much missed by the staff and board of the Suffolk County Historical Society and by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.”
Bridgehampton’s Janice S. Lintz, CEO of Hearing Access and Innovation, was recently interviewed by the United Nations Social Development Network about her efforts to improve access for people who are deaf or hard of hearing on a global basis. Lintz has established and enhanced hearing access programs at over 100 international organizations.

East Hampton residents Marcia Previti and Peter Gumpel will host a performance by the Amanda Selwyn Dance Theater, titled Green Afternoon III, at their home on Saturday, August 15. The event will begin with cocktails and performance installations with dancing in tree houses, on outdoor sculptures, in and around the swimming pool, in the woods, and more. A formal performance will follow and a cocktail reception will conclude the night.
Southampton Hospital’s David E. Rogers, MD Center for HIV/AIDS has announced the addition of two new services—Hepatitis C treatment for HIV/HCV Co-infected patients and Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) care, a daily pill for people who do not have HIV but are at substantial risk. The center has also received the Peter M. Fox Excellence in AAHIVM Credentialing Award from the American Academy of HIV Medicine.
Canio’s Cultural Café is sponsoring a Moby-Dick Marathon reading on Friday, June 12 through Sunday, June 14 to celebrate Canio’s Books 35th and Southampton Town’s 375th anniversary. The conference is an interactive experience that explores how technology influences the music industry, executives, recording artists, and fans. Iconic bar and restaurant The Shagwong, in Montauk, will be re-opening on Friday, June 12 under new ownership. For the past 46 years it was under the ownership of Jimmy Hewett. Now real estate developer Jon Krasner and partner Beau Campsey present the new and improved Shagwong.
