If the soundtracks for half a dozen sci-fi movies from the 1980s got together and made a baby, and that baby grew up to become an electronic musician, he might sound a lot like Com Truise (no, Top Gun would not be one of the parent films).
LISTEN: ‘Brokendate’ by Com Truise
The music of the man also known as Seth Haley sounds otherworldly, but only because it sounds like the kind of music played during a really cool outer-space presentation at the local planetarium — trippy synths, thick bass lines and a whole lot of good times.
The soundtrack sound is totally intentional. Haley conceived of his debut LP, Galactic Melt, out Tuesday, as a “sort of film score … from the mind.” The album is meant to tell the story of the world’s first robotic astronaut — Com Truise — as he takes a mission to a newly discovered galaxy called Wave 1.
To get a taste of what Haley is cooking up, download Galactic Melt‘s “Brokendate” (free MP3, right-click and “Save As”) and check out the SoundCloud player below, featuring the blog-favorite “Cathode Girls” as well as several Com Truise remixes.
