LAFAYETTE, N.Y. - Take the trip to Beak & Skiff Orchards in LaFayette for an evening of acoustic music on what's shaping up to be a picture-perfect late-summer day.
The David Grisman Sextet, led by the band's namesake composer, mandolinist and close friend of the late great Jerry Garcia, will take the stage at 6 p.m.
While Beak & Skiff is becoming something of a force in the Central New York live music scene, they don't forget that it was the apples and cider that made them famous. The orchard's bakery, cafe and tasting room will be open, so concert-goers can grab dinner, a cider donut and a pint of hard cider and enjoy the show.
Where: Beak & Skiff Apple Orchard, 2708 Lords Hill Road, LaFayette.
When: Sunday, Aug. 21, at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m.
How much: Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door.

Take advantage of the great weather at the Baltimore Woods 5K Trail Run this morning. The second-annual cross-country run will wind through hills and valleys and along streams and rivers. For pint-sized athletes ages 10 and under, there will be a free 1K fun run. The fun run starts at 8:45 a.m. and the main event starts at 9 a.m.
Registration for the 5K race is $35 on race day and is capped to 175 runners.
