Speeding Glen Burnie Motorcyclist Killed in Accident: Police

A Glen Burnie woman reportedly turned her minivan into the path of a speeding motorcyclist Wednesday night, killing the biker, police say.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A Glen Burnie man reportedly speeding on his motorcycle died Wednesday night when a minivan turned in front of him, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

The crash on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard (MD-648) at Birch Avenue in Glen Burnie was reported just before 10 p.m. Officers found that the motorcycle was southbound on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard when the minivan pulled out from Birch Avenue to go north on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard.

The Ducati motorcycle driven by David Wayne Stinchcomb, 34, of Glen Burnie, was traveling at what a witness reported was a very high rate of speed, and struck the side of the minivan. Stinchcomb suffered serious head injuries and was declared dead at the scene by Fire Department personnel.

The Dodge Caravan was driven by Mary E. Scheufele, 69, of Glen Burnie, who was not injured.

Police say the crash was caused by the minivan driver's failure to yield right of way when making a left turn, although the excessive speed of the motorcycle is likely a significant factor.

Stinchcomb was wearing a helmet and alcohol is not believed to be involved. Any charges are pending review by the state’s attorney, police said.
