Huntington Bancshares: 2Q Earnings Snapshot

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ Huntington Bancshares Inc. (HBAN) on Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $355 million.

The Columbus, Ohio-based bank said it had earnings of 30 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 29 cents per share.

The regional bank holding company posted revenue of $1.31 billion in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $1.12 billion, missing Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.13 billion.

Huntington Bancshares shares have risen 5 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has increased 5.5 percent. The stock has increased 16 percent in the last 12 months.
