Solidifying their budding relationship, Pitt was reportedly present when Jolie adopted her second child, Zahara, from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. On January 19, 2006, Pitt's request to legally adopt Zahara and Maddox, Jolie's two children, was approved. At that point the children's last names were changed to Jolie-Pitt.

According to jeweler Robert Procop, Pitt designed the stunning ring for his bride-to-be with his help. "Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration with Robert," Procop's team said in a statement. "He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect."

On May 27, 2007, the actress gave birth to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt via cesarian section in Swakopmund, Namibia. Knowing that the first photos of her biological daughter with Pitt would command a hefty price, Jolie herself sold the photos to Getty Images to beat the paps to it. A major bidding war followed and People ultimately paid $4.1 million for them (r.). Jolie donated the money to an undisclosed charity.
