She was born July 26, 1931 in Glenfield, North Dakota to Ervin and Pauline (Kitts) Berg. At age 3 months, Barbara moved to Silverdale and has lived in Kitsap county on and off throughout her life. In her younger days, she loved going salmon fishing with her father and other family members. Barbara graduated from Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale, Washington. Later, as an adult, her life was devoted to raising her three sons, and she loved all sports, including baseball, football, and basketball.

The majority of her career was spent at Pacific NW Bell as a telephone operator, and later at Claremont Retirement home as a cook, with 10 years respectively spent at each.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Pauline Berg; son, Ronald Berg; sister, Gloria (Berg) Duvall; and brother, Earl Berg.

Her surviving family members are sons, Jerry (Stacey) Hink of Phoenix, Arizona, and Robert (Sondra) Hink of Silverdale, Washington. Her grandchildren are Jessica Aguilar Berg, Nathan Hink, and Rachel Hink; and great-grandchildren are Micah and Makaila Aguilar, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Barbara was beloved by all who knew her, always available with a kind heart, and a listening ear. Her motto was “no one ever leaves my house hungry.” In Barbara’s own words, “you take care of yourself, kiddo.”

At Barbara’s request, there will be no services. She will be laid to rest with her family members at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bremerton, Washington.
