Back in June, Into the Woods fans were outraged after composer Stephen Sondheim revealed that the studio would be softening some of the darker plot elements in an effort to make the movie more 'family friendly.'

'When the conversation with the teachers occurred, I had not yet seen a full rough cut of the movie,' the 84-year-old legend clarified to Playbill in a statement.

The Oscar-winning lyricist added: 'And for those who care, the Prince's dalliance is still in the movie, and so is [the song] Any Moment.'

Sondheim has also contributed two new original songs to the Disney feature - Rainbows and an unnamed song for Streep.
