Romney After NAACP: If You Want More ‘Free Stuff’ Vote for Obama
On the same day that Mitt Romney was booed during his speech before the NAACP for saying he would repeal Obama’s health care initiative, he chastised those who support the law for simply wanting “free stuff” from the government, BuzzFeed reported.
“I hope people understand this, your friends who like Obamacare, you remind them of this, if they want more stuff from government tell them to go vote for the other guy -- more free stuff," he said at a fundraiser in Montana on Wednesday night. "But don't forget nothing is really free.”
Referencing his NAACP speech, Romney said that he did not alter his message according to his audience. "When I mentioned I am going to get rid of Obamacare they weren't happy," he said, adding that, "That's ok, I want people to know what I stand for and if I don't stand for what they want, go vote for someone else, that's just fine."
Romney has used the “free stuff” line before, as New York magazine reports, including a comment to a young woman on the issue of birth control: "If you're looking for free stuff you don't have to pay for, vote for the other guy. That's what he's all about."
