Actor and iconic rider Peter Fonda has decided to let go of his prized MV Agusta F4CC, as he said he would when he rode the Harley-Davidson LiveWire electric prototype. Even though back then he was only considering selling his MV, it looks like things escalated pretty quickly, as Bonhams is already listing his bike for an auction which will take place in Las Vegas on January 8.
Even though to some, seeing Fonda on an exclusive Italian superbike may be a bit contradictory, he actually enjoyed a lot of other bikes than the Easy Rider chopper he is most often associated to. Being such a milestone in motorcycle-related movies, owning a special bike only seems natural, and when it comes to high-performance machinery, MV Agusta plays in a league of its own.
Around 270 Grand Prix races have been won by MV Agusta riders, while 27 world titles have been brought in by legendary names such as John Surtees, Mike Hailwood, Giacomo Agostini, or Phil Read. But there’s more to Peter Fonda’s MV Agusta F4CC…
Every now and then, MV Agusta delivers special, limited edition machinery honoring Claudio Castglioni. These bikes sell like hot cakes and are extremely hard to come by once they’re gone, and this makes Peter Fonda’s F4 even more attractive for collectors.
Only 100 F4CC bikes have been manufactured, and Fonda’s is adorned with a number plate reading “021/100”. The 2006 MV Agusta F4CC has a hot-rodded engine which has been taken from 750cc to 1,078cc, with a top power figure of 198 hp and the top speed limited to 195 mph (313.7 km/h). The bikes are hand-built and have also received an all-carbon fiber bodywork, custom racing titanium exhaust system and their price back in the day was $120,000 (€99,985).
Peter Fonda’s MV Agusta F4CC has only 2,000 miles (3,200 km) on it and comes with the Girard-Perregaux wristwatch and leather jacket the bike was originally supplied with, and which are only lightly worn.
Bonhams expects the MV Agusta F4CC to bring between $60,000 and $80,000 (€50,000-66,000). The auction takes place at Bally's Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, but you can also check with Bohnams’ Peter Fonda lot for more info.
