The Best Beaches on Oahu

There's no better way to spend your days in Hawaii than a free trip to the beach.

1. Waikiki Beach

The main tourist destination is best for a warm and sunny day next to all the hotels in Waikiki. Waikiki has the most tourists and it is constantly jam-packed. Waikiki Beach is definitely the most crowded out of all beaches on Oahu, but well worth a visit.

2. Hanauma Bay

Hanauma Bay is a wildlife preserve that is owned by the City and County of Honolulu. Hanauma is a very popular attraction among tourists and locals. There are hundreds of different sea creatures that live among the reefs and sometimes you can even spot sea turtles.

3. Makapu'u Beach

Makapu'u is located near Sandy's beach in the south shore of Oahu. A lot of bodyboarders and bodysurfers hang around this beach, Makapu'u can get quite dangerous for tourists. There is also a hike a few feet away at Makapu'u Lighthouse and off-trail hike to the Makapu'u Tidepools.

4. Yokohama Bay

On the West Side of Oahu, there is Yokohama Bay with the fine, golden sand to lay on. In the early morning, you can see and hear dolphins far out in the beach.

5. Cromwell's

Cromwell's is located on the south shore in Honolulu. It is a manmade stone wall along the Diamond Head Crater in Oahu. The waters are fifty shades of blue and at a perfect location to swim and tan.

6. Sandy Beach

On the south shore of Oahu, Sandy Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Honolulu. Sandy's has some of the best waves and a dangerous shore break, so it isn't the safest for tourists.

7. Waimea Bay

Waimea Bay is famous for its massive waves in the winter time. There are several surfing competitions during the winter, however there are mellow waves and a nice rock to jump off of during the summertime.

8. Lanikai Beach

Lanikai is one of the most beautiful and perfect beaches on Oahu. It is located on the east side of the island, the waves are calm all the time and perfect conditions for swimming and relaxing on the beach.

9. Ko'olina Lagoons

Ko'olina Lagoons are manmade lagoons at a luxury resort on the west side of Oahu. It is a secluded paradise that anyone can visit. Sometimes the currents can get strong and there's no lifeguards on duty, so guests need to be careful.

10. Waimanalo Beach Park

Waimanalo Beach Park is in between Lanikai Beach and Makapu'u. Waimanalo is one of the most beautiful beaches with snow white sand and the ocean has so many hues of blue. The beach is about a mile long strip and it is extremely beautiful and popular among locals.
