The Midland National Weather Service damage assessment team on Monday investigated the tornado damage around Big Spring and have released their preliminary report.
A large supercell thunderstorm produced multiple tornadoes on the evening of May 22, 2016.
One tornado developed near Interstate 20 and crossed the interstate near mile marker 168. This tornado continued southeast toward Cauble Road, damaging several structures along its path.
Preliminary Ratings are: EF-1 to EF-3 with estimated peak winds from 86 to 150 mph.
The exact number of tornadoes is still unknown at this time.
