Police have confirmed that £25,000 worth of drugs have been found in Ardrossan.

At around 2.55pm on Monday, December 11 officers executed a search warrant at a house on Rashley square.

They seized a quantity of what is believed to be heroin, worth an estimated value of £25,000, along with a small quantity of herbal cannabis and 700 tablets. The tablets are undergoing further analysis.

One man aged 47 and two women, aged 52 and 26, were arrested and detained in police custody in connection with the operation.

They were due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, December 12.

Prior to the operation, officers noticed a man acting suspiciously and approached him.

Following enquiries, the 43-year-old man was arrested in connection with alleged drugs offences and alleged possession of an offensive weapon. He was due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday 12 December 2017.

A number of reports have been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Inspector Colin Convery, Saltcoats Locality Team, said:

“We have recovered more than, £25,000 worth of drugs and have arrested four people as a direct result of the information we have received from the people of Ardrossan.

“Support from members of the public is absolutely vital to our work and this demonstrates our team’s commitment to acting on the information we receive. We will continue to focus on tackling drugs, and drug related crime, across North Ayrshire.”
