South Dakota Symphony Orchestra announces 2018-19 lineup

The South Dakota Symphony has announced its 2018-19 lineup.

The SDSO’s Classical Series features works from Beethoven, Handel, Mozart, Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky, as well as a new

Music Unwound program exploring the roots of American music.

The SDSO’s Pops Series, which has been expanded to five programs, features a Feb. 9-10 screening of Steven Spielberg’s

action-packed adventure Jurassic Park.

2018-19 Classical Series

• Beethoven: Symphony No. 3 “Eroica”: Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

• Music Unwound: “American Roots”: Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 18 at 2:30 p.m.

• Handel Messiah: Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at First Lutheran Church

• All Mozart, All the Time: Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m.

• Prokofiev: Symphony No. 5: March 2 at 7:30 p.m.

• Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto: March 23 at 7:30 p.m.

• Mahler 8: “Symphony of a Thousand”: April 27 at 7:30 p.m. and April 28 at 2:30 p.m.

2018-19 Pops Series

• ARRIVAL from Sweden: The Music of ABBA: Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m. and Sept. 30 at 2:30 p.m.

• Rufus Wainwright with the SDSO: Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m.

• ‘Tis the Season: Christmas with the SDSO: Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 9 at 2:30 p.m.

• Jurrasic Park – In Concert: Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 10 at 2:30 p.m.

• The Magical Music of Harry Potter: April 6 at 7:30 p.m. and April 7 at 2:30 p.m.
