‘The Craft: Legacy' trailer: A new coven’s magic will hex your small screen in time for Halloween

"The Craft: Legacy"

"The Craft: Legacy" will be released on demand on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020.

“Light as a feather, stiff as a board.” It’s only one of the few scenes in the original film “The Craft” that’s referenced in the trailer to the upcoming sequel “The Craft: Legacy."

That’s right. The witching season is upon us, and “Legacy” will “hex” your small screen—on demand that is—on Oct. 28, right before Halloween.

The new film’s synopsis, directed by Zoe Lister-Jones, sounds similar to the original’s plot. In “Legacy," four teenaged girls “form a coven of witches,” according to IMDb, but like the original, the high schoolers may lose control of the new powers they now possess.

According to IMDb, the original film’s synopsis:

“A newcomer to a Catholic prep high school falls in with a trio of outcast teenage girls who practice witchcraft, and they all soon conjure up various spells and curses against those who anger them.”

While the original film starred Rachel True, Neve Campbell, Robin Tunney and Fairuza Balk, the new film stars are Lovie Simone (“Greenleaf”), Zoey Luna (“Pose”), Gideon Adlon (“The Society”) and Cailee Spaeny (“On the Basis of Sex”). The young actresses definitely pay homage to the original cast.

The “Legacy" trailer is full with iconic references to “The Craft.” A YouTuber even made a side-by-side video comparing both films' trailers.

Other significant references below:

—“Legacy” features the iconic line “we are the weirdos, mister.”

—As Adlon’s character points out, “The number one rule of The Craft, if a person is a danger to herself or others, they will be bound," the trailer cuts to a scene where Spaeny’s character holds up a retro ’90s photo of Balk as Nancy Downs.
