A man in his 50s was missing after falling off his watercraft at Lake Pleasant Sunday afternoon, a fire department spokesman said.

Peoria Fire-Medical Department units were dispatched to the 10-lane boat ramp at Lake Pleasant Regional Park. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office had received a call after a man did not surface after falling off his personal watercraft.

Peoria fire units turned over the investigation to the Sheriff's Office and its recovery team, said Greg Serrano, Peoria Fire-Medical spokesman.

The MSCO Dive Team identified potential target areas for their search and recovery efforts, which continued at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, according to MCSO Sgt. Bryant Vanegas.

Vanegas said they are currently searching and expect to be on the water for another hour or two.

So far, they have not found the man. This could be due to several obstacles, such as extreme water depths, according to Vanegas.

They are using all resources available such as a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV).

If the man is not found Monday, they will continue the search Tuesday morning.
