“Give Kids a Smile Day” is coming back to the Monongalia County Health Department.

MCHD Dentistry will host the free dental care event on Friday, February 2.

Children up to 18 years of age from anywhere in the area who are without dental insurance can schedule an appointment for a cleaning and exam, fluoride treatment and sealants if needed.

“We have a lot of children, a lot of families in our area who are without dental insurance and there’s a lot of financial burdens to receiving quality dental care when you’re in that situation,” said MCHD Dentistry’s Dentist, Dr. Dan Carrier. “Give Kids a Smile Day is the one day a year we can reduce that burden, open up our doors, and help out the uninsured children in our area.”

This is the 8th year MCHD Dentistry is participating in the American Dental Association’s National Event.

Each year more than 35,000 kids nationwide benefit from the event.

Last year, MDHD Dentistry saw more than 60 children on Give Kids a Smile Day. This year, they’re hoping to accept even more children because of new, larger facilities.

“We have balloons and all kinds of prizes here so we try to make it as fun of an environment as we can for a dental visit so that those children have a positive experience and leave with a good feeling about coming to the dentist,” Dr. Carrier added.

Appointments are limited and will be available from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Give Kids a Smile Day. To make your appointment, call 304-598-5108.
