Storms knock down power lines, close parts of Highway 183 in Rooks County

Storms are rolling across the state Thursday night and they are already causing damage and forcing parts of highways to close.

The Rooks County Sheriff’s Office said Highway 183 is completely shut down between Stockton and Plainville. The closure was caused by downed power lines laying across the roadway. 

Stockton police advise drivers that if you have to get out to try going to Webster State Park. 

Heavy rain and possible hail can be expected as the storms make their way across the region.
