ARRIVAL From Sweden
The Lee University Symphony Orchestra will take the stage with the band “ARRIVAL From Sweden” to perform the music of ABBA for the next installment of Lee’s Presidential Concert Series. The performance will take place on Monday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center.
ARRIVAL From Sweden is one of the world’s most popular and bestselling ABBA show bands. Since their start in 1995 ARRIVAL From Sweden has toured 48 nations and appeared in several television and radio shows all over the world. This Swedish super group claims ABBA as Sweden’s biggest music export ever and hopes to carry on their legacy from generation to generation.
Originally from Sweden, ABBA was commercially the most successful pop music group of the 1970’s. ABBA recorded several number one hits during their career, such as “Waterloo,” “Mamma Mia,” “Dancing Queen,” and many more that are now considered classics.
The Lee Symphony Orchestra is returning for its fourth pops performance on the Presidential Concert stage, after collaborating with guest artists in tribute to the Beatles, The Piano Man: Billy Joel and Elton John, and Simon and Garfunkel.
Lee Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Maestro Robert Bernhardt, who led the Chattanooga Symphony for 19 years and is a popular guest conductor for orchestras around the country. Bernhardt joined Lee's School of Music in the fall of 2011 as an artist-in-residence and conductor of the Lee Symphony Orchestra. He also serves as music director emeritus of the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera and principal pops conductor of the Chattanooga, Grand Rapids, and Louisville Symphonies.
Maestro Bernhardt has served in various capacities with the Sewanee Music Festival, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Lake Placid Sinfonietta, Kentucky Opera, Amarillo Symphony Orchestra, Edmonton Symphony, and the Boston Pops, among numerous others.
Tickets for the concert are $15 for adults and $5 for children and seniors. They can be purchased at the Lee University Box Office in the Dixon Center, or by contacting 614-8343, Monday-Friday, from 3-6 p.m.
