Mexican soccer squads to face off

Mexican soccer league teams Club Guadalajara and Club Pachuca will play July 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Dell Diamond, the Ryan Sanders Baseball recently announced.

Tickets for the game go on sale Saturday, June 13 at 10 a.m.

“We’re excited to host this matchup between two legendary teams,” Ryan Sanders Baseball CEO Reese Ryan said in a written statement. “Dell Diamond is extremely versatile and it will be a great venue for soccer fans across Central Texas.”

Club Deportivo Guadalajara – often simply known as Guadalajara and popularly known as Chivas – is a Mexican professional football club based in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Guadalajara has garnered 11 Mexican Primera Division titles and numerous other accomplishments. It is one of the 10 founding members of the Mexican First Division.

Pachuca is a Mexican professional football team based in Pachuca, Mexico. Founded by British miners in 1901, it is one of the oldest still existing football clubs in the Americas.

Pachuca was promoted to the Primera División in 1998 and has since become one of the most successful clubs in Mexico, winning five national championships, four CONCACAF Champions’ Cups, the 2007 SuperLiga (defeating Major League Soccer’s L.A. Galaxy) and one Copa Sudamericana in 2006.

Penfold presents ‘Hound of Baskervilles’

Penfold Theatre presents “The Hound of the Baskervilles,” June 11-13, 18-20 and 25-27 at the Round Rock Amphitheatre, 301 W. Bagdad Ave. Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic novel has been given a treatment reminiscent of “Monty Python.”

Shows are at 8 p.m. Admission is free; donations accepted. Free parking is available.

‘ACChaoS’ at library

Austin Community College presents its traveling science show, “ACChaoS,” Friday, June 12 at 12:30 p.m. at the Round Rock Public Library. The event targets children in grades K-6. Admission is free.

Baca Wine and Cheese art show

The Baca Center Art Club presents its 6th annual Wine and Cheese Art Gallery show from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 13 at the Baca Center, 301 W. Bagdad Ave.

The club will display a selection of fine art produced by the members and invited guests. Featured pieces will be available for purchase.

The evening will include refreshments, wine, music and art. There will also be a silent auction and door prizes.

Round Rock Arts

Night Rider Bike Ride

Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department will host the 3rd Annual Night Rider Family Bike Ride June 13 at the Rabb House. Cyclists ride a course of two, four or six miles at twilight. Packet pick-up begins at 7 p.m.

Miss Austin Texas pageant

The 2015 Miss Austin Texas and Miss Austin Texas Teen pageants take place June 13 at the Hutto Performing Arts Center.

Thirty contestants are expected to vie for the chance to represent Austin and Central Texas at Miss Texas USA and Miss Texas Teen pageants this fall.

Local contestants include:

• Amanda Moss of Stony Point High School (Miss pageant)

Visiting children’s author

Children’s author Michael Anthony Steele will visit the Round Rock Public Library at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. June 18. Steele has authored books for various characters, including Batman, Green Lantern, Shrek, Spider-Man, Garfield, Speed Racer and the Penguins of Madagascar. He has also worked in film and television.

Admission is free.

Family movie screening

The Round Rock Public Library hosts a screening of “Alexander and the Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” (rated PG) on June 19 at 1:30 p.m. The movie stars Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner.

Drive-in movie screening

The City of Round Rock will host an outdoor screening of “Maleficient” on June 20 at 115 E. Bagdad Ave., the site of a former lumber yard. Cost is $5 (walk-in) and $20 (per car). The screening begins at 8:30 p.m.

Car show downtown

Central Texas auto enthusiasts can enjoy a free car show from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every third Sunday of the month at Centennial Plaza, 301 W. Bagdad.
