The Notre Dame boys’ basketball team stormed past Trivium, 77-61, on Wednesday to earn its first victory of the season.

Derrick Thomas led the way for Notre Dame (1-1) with 17 points, while Russell Rau and Ryan Hammond each had 15. Steve Kaanta added 13 in the victory.

Christian Francis poured in a game-high 22 points for Trivium (2-2). Chris Sullivan added 15 and Sean Dillon had 10.

Sabrina Patton had 23 points to lead the way for the Bernardians (2-2). Lauren Wilmot added 8 and Rhiannon Young had 6 in the loss.

Nashoba sophomore Jake Eastman broke the program record and qualified for the state meet in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.83 seconds. He also claimed first in the 200 IM (2:08.37).

Senior captain Dylan Ciaccio placed first in the boys 500 freestyle with a personal best time of 6:59.38 for Nashoba (1-3).

Girls’ swimming

Senior captain Gillian Campbell placed first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:22.41 and placed third in the 100 free with a time of 1:05.13 for Nashoba (1-3).

Sophomore Molly Trunfio placed first in the 50 free with a time of 28.2 and took second in the 100 free with a time of 1:03.44, while senior captain Emma Sullivan was first in the 100 backstroke (1:17.80) second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:50.27. The girls’ medley relay (2:15.56) claimed first, as did the 400 freestyle relay, which qualified for sectionals with a time of 4:23.57.

Jake Nutter (55 hurdles, high jump), David Gardner (mile, 1,000) and Chris McCauliff (600, 2 mile) were double winners for the Blue Knights.

George Tibbetts claimed victory in the shot put.

David Gonzalez (55, 300) and Nick Malm (100, 2 mile) were double winners for Leominster, while Jonathan Polanco took first in the 600.

Amber Green claimed victories in the high jump, 55 hurdles and 300 to lead the way for the Blue Knights (2-0).

Camille Elbal (shot put), Grace Roy (2 mile), Latifah Ouro-Sama (55), Jessika Antinori (mile) and Gabrielle Maya (600) were also winners.

The 4×200 team (Ouro-Sama, Elbal, Rebecca Handy, Gabby Aleva) and the 4×400 relay (Maya, Nicole Lawrence, Kayla Robison, Emma Houston) claimed wins for Lunenburg. Ava Pilon (2 mile) and Isabella Brackett (300) earned second-place finishes.

Mishana Boasiako was first in the 55 and 300 for Leominster (0-1). Maeve O’Malley won the 600 and Kylee Heap won the shot put.
