MTV announced earlier this year that the reality show - which starred Brody alongside Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari, and ran for six seasons from 2006 to 2010 - will return as 'The Hills: New Beginnings' in 2019.

And after it was previously revealed that Brody and his wife Kaitlynn Carter Jenner were in talks to join the cast last month, he has now confirmed the news on social media.

Taking to Instagram to post a picture of the Sunset Strip with his head shot adorning one of the buildings, the 35-year-old reality star wrote: "Don't call it a comeback. THE HILLS: New Beginings coming soon to @mtv #haterswillsayitsphotoshopped (sic)"

And a source later told 'Entertainment Tonight': "They are excited to be a part of the show."

The news comes just over a month after it was reported that Brody and Kaitlynn were in negotiations with producers about the possibility of returning to the show.

An insider said at the time: "Everybody wants Brody to come back. He was such a big part of the show. It truly wouldn't be the same without him."

Meanwhile, Brody's former co-star Stephanie Pratt, 32, previously took to Instagram to announce that she will also be involved, saying: "I am so excited to start filming #TheHills #NewBeginnings #MTV with my friends & family! it's going to be EPIC @mtvthehills."

And Whitney Port, 33, will take part.

She shared an old picture of herself on Instagram and wrote: "Throw back to my first VMAs look. Good thing I get to go back and make up for my insane looks on #thehills on the NEW HILLS REBOOT!!! Maybe they'll let me out of the fashion closet this time. #mtv. (sic)"
