Missing Tina Satchwell’s husband Richard vows to take lie detector test on TV3 as cops find ‘items of interest’ in Cork woods
MISSING Tina Satchwell's husband has committed to taking a lie detector test on television in the future.
The 45-year-old Cork woman hasn’t been seen since leaving her home 20 kilometres away in Youghal on March 24, 2017.
Sixty cops and a team of cadaver dogs from the UK are currently combing 40 acres of Mitchell’s Wood in Castlemartyr in Cork.
And heartbroken Richard - who denies having anything to do with her disappearance - has told journalist Paul Byrne he will undergo the test on TV3.
Speaking on TV3 News this evening, he said: "At this point I myself don't feel up to it. I'll take a lie detector test when I feel that I'm right. I've got nothing to hide.
"I'm not sleeping too well and don't suppose I'll sleep much at all until the search at Mitchell’s Wood is finished.
"When the time when I feel right, I'll contact yourself and I'll arrange to take the test then.
"I will put on record that in the future, not today, not tomorrow, but when I feel right I'll contact you and I'll sit down and take a lie detector test."
Earlier today, fragments of a woman’s clothing were found during a search for Tina.
It is understood they have found items of interest in the woodland after a week of searching.
These have been sent to Dublin for forensic examination.
The search teams which include gardai, specialist dogs including cadaver dogs brought in from England and members of the army have covered over half of the 40 acres.
A source told us: "We are pleased with the progress to date and have come across a number of items which could prove helpful in the case.
"But until forensic examinations of these have been completed in Dublin, we have to wait to see how useful the discoveries are."
Officers investigating Tina’s disappearance ramped up their search following a tip-off from a “credible witness”.

It is understood the witness told gardai they saw Tina enter the woods.
After visiting last Thursday, Richard said: “Knowing what’s going on behind me, with barriers there, I’m even more trying to fill myself with hope.
“I’m not a religious man but I’m having a little prayer, praying that all of this turns up nothing.”
