Anthony Scaramucci may love “The Art of the Deal” — but not actual art.
The short-lived director of communications for the White House — who worked there under Donald Trump for 11 days in 2017 — was spotted, on the same night that special counsel Robert Mueller’s report was released, at the high-end members-only Core Club, checking out a new exhibition.
The Mooch was perusing Valli Art Gallery’s show there, where he was overheard describing the work using the same type of colorful language that defined his White House tenure.
“I’m from a blue collar background, I don’t understand art, so it’s not my thing,” Scaramucci was heard saying of the art on display. “This can speak to someone else.
I’m sure it’s probably f–king great, but it’s not for me.”
A spy added that the Mooch then “dashed away to avoid the private tour by artist Javier Martin,” who was presenting his collection “Blindness.”
Martin is a Spanish multidisciplinary artist who apparently had his first exhibition at just 8 years old. He has a solo exhibition this month at the Seoul Museum in
South Korea.
When reached for comment, Scaramucci told us, “I wasn’t attending the art event. It was being held in the bar-restaurant area. Before it started, I was meeting a few friends. As I was leaving, the hostess was asking me if I was staying for the event. Then I said what I said.”
In the meantime, Scaramucci separately said this week of the Mueller report: “I think most of the public has this in their rearview mirror . . . At the end of the day, I think it’s behind the president, so I wouldn’t be pushing it too hard.”
While Scaramucci, who founded SkyBridge Capital, is no art connoisseur, Trump Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross is a collector, and Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump also reportedly have a well-curated collection that includes works by Dan Colen, Nate Lowman and Alex Israel.
