Scot REFUSES deportation from Philippines jail so he can fight charges against him

A SCOTTISH man jailed in a hell-hole Philippines prison has refused deportation to the UK in a bid to clear his name.
Frank Bohlert, 61, has been accused of abusing his ex-girlfriend but wants to fight the charges against him.
The divorced dad-of-one, originally from Aberdeen, has been languishing in Bicutan Taguig jail in the Philippines capital of Manila for almost a month.
The prison is notorious for holding foreigners for long periods of time without charge.
Frank was locked up on September 14 when his holiday visa expired and his former partner, Arlyn, made abuse claims against him.
He is currently crammed in a dingy cell with 11 other people.

His family hoped he would be deported back to the UK following Foreign Office intervention.
But Frank wants to stay in south-east Asia to seek justice after his laptop, car and money were allegedly stolen after he was jailed.
He will stay in jail until his case gets to court, which could take months.
And his devastated loved ones fear he is “banging his head against a brick wall”.
The former offshore worker jetted to south-east Asia six years ago to start a life with Arlyn after the pair met online.
Together they ran a bar called Twilights Rock Bistro until his incarceration last month.
His step-brother Graeme Simpson, of Aboyne, Aberdeenshire said: “He’s got nothing left. He wants to stay out there and fight to get his money back. I don’t know what good it will do.
“I think he’s banging his head against a brick wall.
“Everything is in her name because only Filipino people can buy property.”
Speaking to the Press and Journal, Graeme added: “He could have been back home. It’s going to be difficult for him because he’s a foreigner in a different country.
“He’s got a phone in his cell now which they are letting him use.”
The Foreign Office is still providing support to Mr Bohlert.
