Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol has joked that he is excited to see Justin Bieber at the MTV Europe Music Awards tomorrow night.

Bieber, who recently denied claims he had fathered a child, is due to perform during the ceremony at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast.

Speaking at the official press conference ahead of Sunday's MTV EMAs, Lightbody said: "It's an honour to be here. Justin Bieber will have to be careful - I'll be on him like a rash."

Asked how Bieber might cure the rash, the Snow Patrol frontman joked: "Don't worry, I'll kiss it better."

On the EMAs being held in his home country, Lightbody added: "The city is at fever pitch. It's great as usually Northern Ireland is in the news for other reasons. The music scene in Belfast deserved the spotlight thrown on it. It's an incredible scene.

"I probably will lose my s**t at some point. It'll be really emotional. I'm so excited. Belfast has the best crowd in the world."

He also described 'Teenage Kicks' by The Undertones as "the greatest song ever from Northern Ireland".

Coldplay, Jessie J and Lady GaGa will also perform at the event.
