In Wednesday’s loss to the Toronto Raptors, Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James passed Reggie Miller to move into 18th place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

James now has 25,298 points in his career. Next in his sights is Alex English, who scored 25,613 points.

If James continues to score at a rate of 25 points per game, he’ll pass English in 13 games.

After English, John Havlicek is next among retired at 26,395 (there are three active players between English and Havlicek: Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce). Then comes Dominique Wilkins (26,668), Oscar Robertson (26,710) and Hakeem Olajuwon (26,946).

At James’ current scoring rate, he would pass Olajuwon in the next-to-last game of the regular season.

Reggie still has him in a couple things

Though Miller got passed by James, those who relished watching Miller play can still feel good that James won’t be catching Miller in two areas.

Miller ranks second all-time in 3-pointers with 2,560. James is almost halfway there with 1,274. In other words, if James kept up his identical pace over the next 926 games (a little more than 11 full seasons) he’d still be a few short.

Miller also has James by a considerable margin in free-throw percentage. He ranks 10th all-time at 88.77 percent. James is at 74.35 percent.

Even if James made his next 10,000 free throws, he’d be at 88.72 percent for his career

… still short of Miller.
