Katie Cassidy’s Murder Mystery ‘Cover Versions’ Bought by Sony

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has bought worldwide rights to the murder mystery feature “Cover Versions,” starring Katie Cassidy, Drake Bell, Austin Swift, Jerry Trainor, and Debby Ryan.

Lakeshore Entertainment’s Off the Dock division made the sale of “Cover Versions,” directed by Todd Berger from his own script. The story focuses on four band members who tell disparate recaps of a night of sex, drugs, and murder that takes place before their show at a music festival.

Producers are Marc Reid and Mark Korshak. The film recently completed shooting.

Cassidy is known for her starring role on the CW’s “Arrow” as attorney-turned-vigilante Laurel Lance/Black Canary, based on the DC Comics character.

Bell’s credits include the Fox series “Grandfathered” and Swift will be seen opposite Ben Affleck in Warner Bros.’ “Live By Night.” Ryan is starring New Line Cinema’s “Life of the Party.”

Berger directed “It’s a Disaster” from his own script for Oscilliscope Pictures. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
