A 68-year-old woman said Monday that while walking to her mailbox on Friday she was confronted by a masked man who pushed “a big black pistol" in her face.

Athens-Clarke police are trying to identify the man who committed the robbery in a neighborhood off North Peter Street, according to a police report.

“When he got to me, he put the gun in my face and said, ‘Drop your bag,’" the victim told the Athens Banner-Herald. "I stood there and I began to call on the name of Jesus as loud as I could and as much as I could.”

The robber took her bag, which did not contain anything of great value, and went to a waiting car, she said.

“He didn’t even try to run. He walked to the car as if he was bad,” she said.
