She was the loving and steadfast mother of Glynda Troutman Bullington of Elloree, Ron Troutman (Gayle) of Columbia, Bobby Troutman (Amy) of St. Matthews, and Marla Troutman Hall (Fred) of Danielsville, Georgia. She graduated from high school in Pearson, Georgia, and also earned a degree from South Georgia College in Douglas, Georgia. While in college, she excelled on both tennis and softball teams. While in Atlanta during the mid-1940's, she competed on the women's semi-professional basketball team called the Atlanta Tomboys. After marriage to Billy, they moved to South Carolina to start a family and worked the Troutman family farm outside of Elloree in the Midway Community. She was especially notable for her ability to hand pick cotton during the fall harvests.
Mrs. Troutman loved to cook and faithfully hosted missionaries, friends, and family in her home. She taught Sunday School and served as church treasurer for decades. After retiring from the Social Security Administration, she continued to serve her church family, cultivate friendships, attend her grandchildren's sports and music activities and defend her many titles as Horseshoe Champ at the Park family reunions.
