Pedestrian dead after crash in Panama City Beach

Beach police have released the name of the man who was killed Thursday while trying to cross Back Beach Road. Police say Steve Martin was pronounced dead at the scene.

A pedestrian is dead after an crash in Panama City Beach Thursday morning.

According to Panama City Beach Police, at about 5:30 a.m. officials received a call about a pedestrian-involved crash on Back Beach Road near Nautilus Street.

A 40-year-old male was attempting to cross Back Beach Road when he was struck by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is still unknown at this time.

Panama City Beach officials are continuing to investigate.

Eastbound lanes on Back Beach Road between Nautilus Street and Lantana Street are currently closed and traffic is being re-routed. Commuters should expect delays at this time.

According to a spokesperson for Bay District Schools, students who are late to nearby schools will be excused.
