More Rain in Store for Tampa Bay

Wet conditions are likely to stick around until midweek.

Tampa Bay area residents hoping for a break from the rain aren’t likely to get much of one until sometime later in the week.

“The wet weather for the most part is going to be continuing,” National Weather Service meteorologist Tyler Fleming warned.

The northern part of Tampa Bay will likely be a bit drier Saturday and Sunday, while those to the south should see more storms, Fleming said. Overall, chances for rain in the Bay area are set at 40 percent Saturday and 30 percent Sunday. Temperatures are also expected to cool a bit with highs in the lower to mid-80s anticipated both days.

While conditions will warm to the upper 80s as the workweek kicks off, rain chances become much stronger as a surface boundary moves through the area. Chances for rain in the early part of the week are set at 70 percent for both Monday and Tuesday.

Forecasters are also keeping an eye on a number of rivers in the west Central Florida area for potential flooding.
