The latest around the rumor mill claims that "Man of Steel 2's" release date might be delayed.

Last week, news surfaced online that "Man of Steel" is getting a sequel from "Mad Max: Fury Road" director George Miller. However, recent reports claim that the project may not be moving forward anytime soon.

According to Den of Geek, Warner Bros. still want Miller to direct a DC film, although its uncertain which one will strike his interest. The report also stated that the proposed "Man of Steel 2" release date is said to be "permanent hold," although their sources did not elaborate any further.

Screen Rant speculates that "Man of Steel 2" isn't a priority for Warner Bros. at the moment as they busy promoting 2016's "Suicide Squad" and "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice," and also with "Wonder Woman" and "Justice League Part 1" entering production next year. "Man of Steel 2's" release date is unlikely to happen earlier than 2018, so the sequel "may simply be on the back-burner" right now," the article states.

Meanwhile, Ben Affleck, who plays Batman in the DCEU, has reportedly been given a "golden deal" of three solo Batman movies.

The rumor surfaced after a screening for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" took place for the movie's crew and Warner executives, and Zack Snyder's working cut of the film received a standing ovation from those who were in attendance.

Before that, Affleck was already rumored to shoot a "Batman" stand alone film, to arrive sometime in 2018.

Until the rumors are confirmed, fans can look forward to March next spring when "Batman V Superman" hits theaters.
