YNW Melly remains in jail for the October 2018 shooting deaths of his close friends, hip-hop artists YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy, but that isn’t stopping the Florida rapper from releasing new music. Tomorrow (May 1), a new mixtape titled Free M&M will arrive in conjunction with Melly’s birthday:
According to the Instagram post announcing the mixtape, there will be a release party featuring rappers King Von and Fredo Bang at Orlando’s Gilt Nightclub to celebrate the project.
“I’m not gon' be there physically but I’m gon' be there officially,” Melly said in a phone call recording posted to his Instagram Story. “I need everybody to come show a nigga some love, man! Thank y'all to all my fans and supporters! I love y’all!”
The project may feature a Lil Uzi Vert-assisted remix of Melly’s 2018 track, “4 Real,” which was previewed on Instagram earlier today:
On the Yung Lan and Turbo-produced track, Uzi raps:
I do not need her, could leave any minute

Melly is currently facing the death penalty. Police claim Melly killed both men and staged the crime scene to look like a drive-by shooting.
Many fans have pointed to the violent lyrics of Melly’s breakout hit, “Murder On My Mind,” as evidence of his guilt, but the song was actually written in 2016 and released in March 2017, more than one year before the murders he’s being charged with.
