Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj win big at People's Choice Awards 2016

Without a doubt, 2015 had been a great year for the music universe. From Taylor Swift's blockbuster album 1989 still mounting new heights at all possible music charts, to Justin Bieber's Sorry and What Do You Mean making their way into the playlists of every music lover--2015 gave us a lot of music-laden memories. And in order to honour the best of music, alongside the world of television and movies, the 42nd edition of the People's Choice Awards saw some of your most favourite artistes win big at the event.

The Thinking Out Loud hitmaker, Ed Sheeran, who recently declared a social media boycott, was declared as the winner in the Favorite Male Artist category, leaving behind stars like Justin Bieber, Luke Bryan, Nick Jonas and The Weeknd.

Taylor Swift's victory in the Favorite Female Artist category did not come as a surprise, as she defeated her best friend, Selena Gomez, and others including Demi Lovato, Lana Del Rey and Madonna.

But all was not lost for Madonna, as she proved who the real queen is by winning the Favorite Music Icon award, defeating legends like Paul McCartney, Prince, Steven Tyler and Stevie Wonder.

Where Bieber's What Do You Mean from his latest album outshone popular tracks like Taylor Swift's Bad Blood, Ellie Goulding's Love Me Like You Do, Can't Feel My Face by The Weeknd, the Favourite Album category was conquered by Meghan Trainor's album, Title.

Other artistes who won in various categories included Nicki Minaj, Blake Shelton, Shawn Mendes and Carrie Underwood among others.
