SHIRLEY — This summer’s ShirleyArts! children’s production is the family musical Annie Jr. with book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse, and lyrics by Martin Charnin.
The story of the spunky runaway orphan who is adopted by the rich businessman will be performed at the Ayer Shirley Middle School on Friday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m, Saturday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m, and Sunday, Aug. 25 at 2 p.m. The production is under the direction of Meredith and Laurie Marcinkewicz.
Izzy Reilly of Leominster stars as Orphan Annie with Jordan Seward of Leominster as the mean Miss Hannigan. Daddy Warbucks is played by Tayja Adams of Lunenburg and Sophie Houle of Leominster plays his Secretary Grace. Zach Sickorez of Ayer and Piper Rakip of Shirley play the conniving Rooster and Lily.
The other orphans are played by Josefina Daisy, Keira Dodier, Mylee Dodier, Selah Hendrickson, Lizzy Lohmann, and John Marble. Rounding out the cast of servants, police, dog catchers, laundrymen, and radio personalities are Alexa Feigley, Celia Lohmann, Rose Marble, and Sofie Santoro, with Jack Mayo playing the part of Sandy the faithful dog.
General admission tickets are on sale for $10 from cast members, or at Shirley’s Hazen Library. Tickets at the door will be $15.
