The loss of former students Troy and Jayla Davis has been utterly devastating, according to Trevallyn Primary School Association chairman Brian Wightman.

The father and daughter were killed in a horror crash on the Midland Highway a week ago.

The crash also claimed the life of Mr Davis' aunt Eileen Marshall.

Jayla's younger brother Jacob, 7, who also attends Trevallyn Primary School, survived the crash and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Mr Wightman said the impact of the tragic accident had hit the school community hard, adding there were no words to adequately describe the sorrow.

"I was once told that the children of Trevallyn parents do not fall far from the tree. The result of these close relationships with our community is the ongoing tradition of Trevallyn Primary families attending our school," he said.

"In loss and grief and sadness, our thoughts are with the Davis and Marshall families. And in hope for the future, we will now focus on Jacob's recovery and welcoming him back to school and back into the company of his classmates.

"The Davis family are well known to our community, having strong links to Trevallyn Primary School, Riverside High School, Trevallyn Tennis Club, the City of Launceston Basketball Club, and Launceston and North Launceston Football clubs.

"The loss of Troy and Jayla and Eileen will be strongly felt. Yet, and as it always does, the community will rally behind those in need with the appropriate level of support provided for students and staff at Trevallyn Primary School."

The funerals for Troy, Jayla and Eileen are being arranged by T.M.Foley Funerals, however dates have not yet been confirmed.
